MCA & Related Services

Missed Call Alert (MCA) service will enable subscribers to be informed of their missed calls when they are not able to answer their calls due to:

  1. Handset being switched off
  2. Subscriber being busy (in conversation with no call waiting).
  3. Subscriber out of coverage

In addition to the missed call notification, the following services are also available:

  1. An 'Alternative Number' service in which s subscriber can set an alternative number to which he/she would like the MCA messages to be delivered is available. E.g. A boss can set the secretary's number as the alternative number to receive MCA messages.
  2. IMUP is a service in which a B-Mobile caller will be notified when the subscriber is back in the network after being either (a) out of Network or (b) Switched off.
  3. Out of Office enables a subscriber to send out a predefined 'Out-of-Office Notification' to the caller whenever he/she is not able to take the call.

Modes of Operation

Two modes of operation are available for the MCA service. The customer can choose between any of the two modes proposed.

a) On Demand - Pull Mode (3 step Notification)
In the PULL mode, customers will receive a SMS informing that they have missed calls and can retrieve the missed call information by replying with a code word. In other words, the customer will receive the MCA only on demand. Charging of PULL mode is based on the event which is triggered by the customer. This mode involves three SMS messages to be sent back and forth between the MCA server and the customer.

  1. 1st message is sent from MCA server to customer asking whether customer would like to retrieve the missed call information

  2. 2nd message is sent from customer's handset request for the MCA information
  3. 3rd message containing the missed call information is sent from MCA to customer

The first message in this Mode is sent irrespective of whether the customer desires the MCA or not. The last 2 messages are sent only when the customer wants to receive the missed call alert. The charge for MCA delivered in this mode is Nu 2.50.

b) Subscription - Push Mode (Instant Notification)
The Push Mode is a subscription based mode in which a monthly charge is applied on the customer. MCA notifications will be directly pushed onto the subscribers' handset whenever the subscriber returns to the network.
Subscribers of MCA will be able to use the IMUP, Alternative Number and Out of Office services.
